JDR Motorex KTM team riders PJ Larsen and Ryan Marmont will debut KTM's 2011 model 250 SX-F at Moree this weekend, with Larsen confident he can continue his dominant form to extend his Pro Lites lead.
American PJ Larsen will debut KTM’s all-new 2011 250 SX-F at round seven of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals at Moree on Sunday, the Pro Lites series leader confident he can continue his winning ways despite limited time on the new model.
Larsen, who has won 12 out of 16 motos in what is his rookie season in Australia, confirmed with MotoOnline.com.au this morning that he will be on the new model, although the team will utilise the race-proven 2010 engine for the moment.
“It’s quite a bit different, but we are using the 2010 engine at this stage so we don’t have EFI on the bike just yet,” Larsen explained. “We’ll play around a little with that and use the new engine once we’ve had time to test properly.
“The new chassis obviously has linkage and is a big improvement, you know, I would say we are a lot further ahead as far as handling goes heading into the weekend.”
Larsen had a scare during testing this week with a practice crash, however he says he’s still out to claim moto victories with two rounds left to run in the championship chase.
“I’m going to keep racing to win – I’m not going to go into conservative mode just yet,” he said. “We come here to race and to win, so that’s what I’m going to try and do with this new model.”
JDR Motorex KTM teammate Ryan Marmont is also equipped with the 2011 model for this weekend, the former series champion looking to improve from fourth in the current standings to make it a KTM 1-2 behind Larsen.
