Victorian motocross ace Kade Mosig has stamped his authority on his home state’s motocross championship, by taking victory in five out of six races last weekend at Newry’s second round of the series.

Mosig again proved he is the man to beat in both the 250cc Lites and 450cc Open classes, convincingly winning all three Lites class races on the Saturday and winning two out of three Open class races on Sunday.

While happy with his weekends’ performance Mosig concedes his goal for the weekend was to obtain valuable race practice necessary to achieve his ultimate goal – victory in the Australian MX Nationals in Albury this weekend.

“It feels great to get out there and get some good practice for next weekend in Albury,” Mosig commented. “The track in Newry has a concrete starting grid, which is the same as we have to race on in Albury; to get six races under my belt the week before the nationals is perfect preparation for me.”

Mosig has steadily improved throughout the 2010 MX Nationals series, after a broken hand prior to round two put him behind the eight ball. The 20-year-old has been using the Victorian Motocross Championship series event to hone some particular aspects of his racing, aspects he knows will put him in good stead to win his first national race for 2010.

“This year the MX Nationals races are much shorter than they used to be, so I used this weekend to focus on my sprint speed and intensity,” he continued. “I’ve improved a lot since the series started and finally I feel like I’m ready to win.”

Round six of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals kicks off at Diamond Park in Albury Wodonga this Sunday, 27 June.
