Supercross star Chad Reed and his wife Ellie have announced the birth of their son, Tate Brady Reed on Friday, 30 April (Saturday, 1 May AEST).
Born 7.3lb and 21 inches after a grueling 36-hour labour, Tate is the couple’s first child.
Mother and son are now resting comfortably at the family’s Florida home and the very proud new father said he could not be happier.
“Ellie is my hero! That was a very tough 36 hour labour,” double AMA and world champion Reed revealed. “Wow. Holding the little guy is something I can’t explain. I have had everyone telling me how cool it is, but to hold your child for the first time really is something else It was so nice to bring him home! It made it all real.”
While sitting out the penultimate round of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series due to the late arrival of his son, Reed will be back on the bike preparing for the final round of the championship which will be held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, 8 May.
