Oz MX: Yamaha teams set to surge forward at Broadford

Marmont is set to improve at Broadford this weekend.

CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont says he’s excited for the third round of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals at Broadford in Victoria this weekend, content with his pair of podium places at the opening two rounds of the series to date.

“I am off to the exactly the kind of start I was looking for – I am well placed, injury free and starting to really fine some form on the bike,” the defending Pro Open champion commented.

“These middle rounds of the championship are where things really start to hot up and its time we turn the pressure up.”

Teammate Cheyne Body currently lies in sixth place and if the 2009 season is anything to go by, the likeable Victorian is about to hit his stride.

It was around this time last season when Boyd went on a winning spree running up a seven moto winning streak to thrust himself back in contention and he hopes 2010 will bring him the same.

“I am always a slow starter to a championship and it’s about this time that things really start to click for me. I feel good on the practice track and ready to start climbing the leader board,” Boyd said.

After a round winning performance at Canberra’s round two, Serco Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs sees himself holding the red plate as the leader of the Pro Lite class after two rounds.

Gibbs combined great starts with good starts and race smarts to take the Canberra round and it’s a combination he wants to stick with.

“Canberra was just the round I needed. It was so rewarding to get the result after putting in the hard yards in the off season. I have got my routine sorted out now and the bike is working awesome, so I plan on taking the same game plan into Broadford as I did in Canberra,” Gibbs commented.

Teammate Ford Dale is also on the charge and in between rounds, has contested the Queensland Motocross Championship where he won the Pro Lite class.

“I got as much riding in as possible since Canberra and have done some local races back in Queensland to keep my eye in. I made some big improvement from round one to round two and hope for the trend to continue at round three in Broadford,” Dale said.

The action at Broadford kicks off at 8.30am where all three classes will have one long moto in the morning followed by two back-to-back sprint motos in the afternoon.
