The awesome foursome that is Yamalube/GYTR/Rockstar Yamaha is set to charge in the 2010 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals, the team announcing today that its riders will wear AXO for this season after securing a major sponsorship deal with Ficeda Accessories.
Luke Styke, Harley Quinlan, Ross Beaton and Shaun Redhead will be sporting the quality range of Ficeda products from head to toe, using Shark Helmets and AXO apparel for the 2010 Motocross and Supercross season.
After an ultra successful 2009 season, taking first, second and fourth in the Under 19 division of the MX Nationals and Shaun Redhead claiming a national junior championship, the Yamaha team were hot property during the off season and Ficeda Accessories were quick to snap up the young team and look forward to a successful association with the hard chargers of Australian Motocross.
“We were looking at stepping up our sponsorship program and we feel this team is the perfect fit for us,” stated Ficeda racing manager, David Maddock. “The riders get results, the team generates plenty of publicity and they project a positive and refreshing image in Australian motocross. We couldn’t be happier to be involved with them and look forward to a huge season with the team.”
Rockstar Energy Drink has also stepped up and taken naming rights of the team alongside Yamaha’s in house products Yamalube and GYTR. Rockstar have invested heavily in Australian Motocross and the support of such a young team of riders shows they are as dedicated as any company to develop and foster racing talent and the future of Australian racing.
“To have Rockstar on board is a big deal to the team and the riders,” said team leader Darren Thompson. “The public image of Rockstar and its standing among the youth of today is cool and the riders are extremely proud to be a part of the Rockstar team of athletes.”
Galvin Construction will also continue to be heavily involved with the team for 2010, stepping up support even more after the success of 2009.
“I have been involved in Motocross for a few years now and I am really impressed with the infrastructure Yamaha provide around these young riders. From the support of the senior teams in CDR and Serco, to the people that Yamaha have in place to guide them, I feel that the riders have a path and get every opportunity to develop and reach their full potential under this program,” offers Steve Sweeney, the managing director of Galvin Construction.
The team hit the track in anger at the opening round of the Rockstar MX Nationals on 28 March at Horsham in Victoria.
Styke will be contesting the Pro Lites class, while Beaton and Redhead will tackle the Under 19 division. Quinlan will miss the first round as he recovers from injury but will be back in action at round two in Canberra.
“I look forward to see what these young riders can achieve in 2010,” said YMA motorsport manager Ray Howard. “They all had great seasons in 2009 and have been working hard to continue on the good form. It is a credit to them that companies such as Rockstar, Galvin Construction and AXO were so eager to be involved and they assist them in reaching their goals and dreams.”
