Tasmanian to race newly-developed KX300X in J2 category.
Multiple Australian champion Kyron Bacon has joined MGR-ASI Kawasaki for 2025, set to race the J2 class in the FIM EnduroGP World Championship.
The Tasmanian will compete on a Kawasaki KX300X, a newly-developed bike created in partnership between Kawasaki Italy, KL Service and Athena-GET.
“I can honestly say that this is the beginning of a new adventure,” said Bacon. “I’m on the other side of the world from my home, and even though I’ve only been in Italy for a few days, I already feel very comfortable. The team’s organisation has provided me with optimal conditions and, above all, a high-performance bike before even starting the tests.
“We’re working hard to improve every single aspect, and I’m confident that we’ll be competitive from the first race. Our goal is to do our best in the Junior World Championship, but we also know that the Italian Championship is an excellent testing spot where I can compete with the best riders on the international stage, and I can’t wait to start racing. I want to thank the entire MGR-ASI Kawasaki team staff for their trust, and I hope to repay that trust with great results.”
The opening round of the 2025 EnduroGP World Championship is set to take place from April 4-6 at the GP of Portugal.
Following a successful stint with the ShopYamaha team, Bacon’s move overseas comes in addition to former Ballard’s JGR Yamaha Danielle McDonald signing for the AmPro Yamaha team in US Grand National Cross Country (GNCC).
