A continued recovery from a torn lisfranc in his foot will see Honda Racing rider Wilson Todd facing a race against time to be fit for Wonthaggi’s 2025 ProMX opener in March.

The Queenslander is planning to ‘try and ride a couple of times before round one’ in eight weeks time.

The injury – which occurred in September last year while preparing for the AUSX championship – has left Todd sidelined ever since, leaving him little to no time to prepare for his second season in the MX1 category.

“These lisfranc injuries are just long injuries to come back from,” Todd told MotoOnline. “It generally takes footballers around 11 months to come back, unless they get a fusion in their foot. It’s just a shitty injury – there’s nothing I can really do to strengthen or help it come along. The only thing that’ll help is just not moving it, I can’t put any weight through it until the five-month mark. Ideally, I’d like to leave it longer, but I have to try and race.

“I’m just going to wait until March, then try and give it a go. I have an appointment for my next x-ray in mid-February, but they can’t really see if the ligament is growing on x-ray, they can only see if the bones have moved or if the plates have bent.

“I don’t think I’m going to have much time on the bike before Wonthaggi because the more time it has to heal, the better. So, I might try and ride a couple of times before round one, but I definitely won’t be on the bike until March.”

It’s been an injury-riddled 12 months for the four-time national MX2 champion after severe friction burns to his leg left him sidelined for the majority of his rookie season in the premier class.

Todd managed to return for the final two rounds of last year’s ProMX at MX Farm and Queensland Moto Park, only to be injured shortly after while preparing for supercross, which led to him sustaining the lisfranc injury and also breaking his right foot in the incident.
