Wonthaggi will continue as the opening round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, extending to a two-day format to commence the new season on March 22-23.

While the complete season is yet to be announced, the Victorian venue will be the first of eight rounds on the schedule once again, which is expected to feature a series of revisions for the new year.

“We’re again delighted to be beginning a new ProMX season in Wonthaggi, at a track that delivers perennially exciting racing in a beautiful part of Victoria,” Motorcycling Australia (MA) CEO Peter Doyle commented.

“Thanks to Bass Coast Shire Council for its tireless support of the ProMX round in Wonthaggi, an enduring partnership that helps us deliver a world-class event to the region.

“We’re still on a high from ProMX’s very own Kyle Webster being a part of Team Australia’s groundbreaking victory in the 2024 Motocross of Nations in the UK. That success is evidence of just how competitive ProMX racing is and we know the opener in Wonthaggi will produce gripping action.”

The newly-introduced two-day format at Wonthaggi round will feature additional support classes, which remain to be revealed. It’s unclear if Saturday will be reserved for practice and qualifying, or if the opening weekend will feature three motos across the pro classes.
