AUSX title contender continues to build momentum in Wollongong.
In-form SX1 contender Luke Clout has confirmed that he will continue with Empire Kawasaki through the 2025 season after taking another podium finish at round three of the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship in Wollongong.
Clout transferred to the Victorian-based squad for the current season, where he displayed promising signs at the conclusion of the Penrite ProMX Championship before hitting the ground running in supercross.
The 2021 Australian MX1 champion, who’s also contesting the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) aboard Kawasaki machinery with Rick Ware Racing, has scored three podiums from three rounds in AUSX, including a race victory in opening final of Wollongong’s Triple Crown.
“I think as I’ve gotten older and wiser, if the bike doesn’t feel comfortable, I’m not willing to push as I was,” Clout told MotoOnline. “I went through a lot of injuries in my career and that leg injury and stuff – I don’t want to feel that pain ever again.
“So when I’m not comfortable, I’m not willing to push and willing to do that… I’ve kind of matured in that sense. But when I feel comfortable, the old Luke comes out and I’m willing to risk it there because I feel comfortable on the bike.
“We’ve done a lot of work, I have to hold my hat off to these guys, they’ve stuck by me. I was demanding and it took a little bit to get there, but I think if you look at it now, we’ve had four podiums on the trot now, especially with motocross.
“Since I’ve gotten comfortable, I’ve been consistently a top-three guy if not winning races. The team’s had my back and we’ll be continuing in ’25, so I’m excited.”
Clout is currently ranked third in the SX1 standings, just 10 points shy of series leader Joey Savatgy (Honda Racing) as the championship heads to Adelaide for the penultimate round between 15-17 November.
