Transferring to Bud Racing Kawasaki in multi-year contract from 2025.
Australian teenager Jake Cannon has been officially announced at Bud Racing Kawasaki for 2025, the reigning national MX3 champion committing to a multi-year deal that will see him enter the EMX250 series from next season.
Cannon, 17, clinched the ProMX crown this year in a single season with Honda Racing, but will defect to Kawasaki for next year in the European championship.
“Very happy to announce that Jake Canon will ride for Team Bud Racing Kawasaki in 2025 for a multi-year contract,” a statement from Bud Racing confirmed. “The young 17-year-old Australian rider is more than excited to land in Europe for the EMX250 championship, French MX2 Championship and some supercross. Welcome Jake, let’s make this season an unforgettable one.”
Prior to his international transition, Cannon will complete the five-round Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) in SX3. He currently sits second in the point-standings after going 2-4 at Redcliffe’s double-header opening rounds.
The arrival of Cannon will see him become the second emerging Queenslander competing in the series fulltime, joining Liam Owens after he had his deal extended at the Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna team for 2025.
With Cannon vacating the prized development seat at Honda Racing for next season, current WBR Yamaha rider Kayd Kingsford – who finished third in the 2024 MX3 standings – has been widely linked to the factory-backed CRF250R for next year.
