Saturday’s opening round of the World Supercross Championship (WSX) in Canada will serve as a critical opportunity for Matt Moss to shift momentum back in his direction after a difficult start to the Australian domestic series in Redcliffe.

The two-time SX1 champion, whose last title came a full decade ago in 2014, left Redcliffe’s double-header positioned ninth in the standings, a full 25 points behind early red plate-holder Joey Savatgy (NAPA Auto Parts Honda Racing).

Upon his reunion with CDR Yamaha Monster Energy for the 2024 Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX), Moss was regarded as a legitimate title threat in the pre-season, but could only manage 12-8 results across the two-night program after crashes cost him any chance of better results. He escaped injury in a more serious impact during the second final on Saturday, but was left battered, and opted to race-on for points the following day.

“I definitely am looking forward to turning things around this weekend in Vancouver,” Moss told MotoOnline. “I put in a massive pre-season up here in Kurri Kurri, but I just didn’t bring my A-game to Redcliffe. I know that I’m better than what we showed there and we’ve been hard at work since ironing out those kinks so it doesn’t happen again and we can get things back on track this weekend.”

Moss will partner Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing icon Eli Tomac in the WSX series as part of the Craig Dack Racing (CDR) organisation through the four-round international series, which will run simultaneously with the AUSX series this season.
