Five-time Australian SX1 champion Justin Brayton has been named in a broadcast role for the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX), formally signalling the end of his racing chapter within the series.

This season will see AUSX aired live and free on the Kayo streaming platform locally using its ‘Freebies’ service – moving across from 7plus – as well as on MAVTV internationally.

Brayton, 40, retired from full-time competition at the close of the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in the US, but won a fifth AUSX crown later that year. He raced on in Australia last year on his way to fourth in the final SX1 standings, despite injury impacting his title chances.

After elevating his focus on broadcasting at home throughout the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) season, Brayton will sensationally feature as part of the commentary team alongside Lee Hogan and Danny Ham, providing expert analysis in a major coup for the AUSX series.

“The Australian Supercross Championship holds a special place in my heart, having had the privilege to race and win the Championship five times, to now join the broadcast team is truly an honour,” explained Brayton “I can’t wait to be a part of what is shaping up to be a incredible 2024 season.”

While it has been evident for some time that Brayton wouldn’t be extending his part-time career on an international scale this year, both he and the Yarrive Konsky-operated factory Honda Racing Australia team had been reluctant to make any decisions official.

Now confirmed that he won’t be contesting the new season, Iowa native Brayton will go down as one of the most decorated riders in Australian motocross and supercross history, courtesy of his five-straight premier class titles earned between 2016-2022 (the series was paused in 2020 and 2021) with Honda.

With Brayton exiting Honda Racing, at least in a regular capacity for this year, the team will continue in SX1 with defending champion Dean Wilson, alongside new signing Joey Savatgy and Australian Aaron Tanti, who is also a fresh addition to the roster.
