Brookes, on his BSB HM Plant Honda, will replace Broc Parkes at CRS Honda for WSBK at Phillip Island.

Australia will have another competitor on the grid at the opening round of the Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island next week, with Josh Brookes lined up to contest the event for the Echo CRS Honda team in place of fellow Aussie Broc Parkes, who broke his right leg in training last weekend.

Brookes will contest the British Superbike Championship with the factory-backed HM Plant Honda team in 2010 for the second successive season, however he was on hand at the recent Australian Superbike Championship test aboard a Honda CBR1000RR for track time during the off-season.

In 2004, ex-Aussie Superbike champion Brookes won the World Supersport race at Phillip Island as a wildcard entrant, having 29 starts to his name in World Superbike, after contesting the series for two seasons in 2006 and 2007. He also finished third in the 2008 WSS series with Stiggy Racing Honda behind Andrew Pitt and Jonathan Rea.

Brookes, who finished fourth in the 2009 BSB championship with the factory Honda, will take part in the final pre-season test session at Phillip Island this coming Sunday and Monday, making his debut with the CRS Honda team.
