Reigning champion Dean Ferris will remain sidelined for this weekend’s sixth round of the 2024 Penrite ProMX Championship at Toowoomba, still recovering from his crash at Maitland in May.

The four-time MX1 title winner was initially expected to be back for the Queensland portion of the series, but it remains unclear when Ferris will be fit to return once his hand injury is fully healed.

“Dean Ferris will again be sidelined this weekend as his wrist hasn’t recovered enough to allow him to race,” a statement from Yamaha revealed. “Ferris will be at Toowoomba, cheering on his CDR Yamaha team, but won’t be racing.”

CDR Yamaha Monster Energy will continue to field just one factory-backed YZ450F on Sunday, focused on Jed Beaton’s championship prospects entering the final three rounds of the season. He currently trails red plate-holder Kyle Webster (Boost Mobile Honda Racing) by seven points.
