Detailed: 2025 Yamaha WR range

New generation WR250F model headlines latest enduro line-up.

An all-new Yamaha WR250F has been revealed for 2025, the latest enduro range headlined by its ever-popular quarter-litre entry, while the WR450F has remained largely unchanged following the overhaul it received for the current model year.

In line with recent motocross updates, the 2025 WR250F now features a new frame, optimised suspension settings, and refined engine mounts tailored for off-road riding and racing. Notably, the lowered center of gravity enhances cornering in the trails.

A new bilateral beam frame has been developed using rider feedback to ensure an ideal rigidity balance for exceptional handling, turning, and impact absorption. The design includes new cylinder head mounts and front engine mounts constructed with two metal plates of varying thickness.

Like its YZ250F counterpart, the MY25 WR250F generates high levels of power throughout the rev range. However, its power delivery is uniquely tuned for enduro riding, thanks to a new intake system and ECU settings.

A new airflow management system directs clean air from various positions, including the shrouds, tank, and seat. A lightweight airbox paired with a rounded air filter enhances airflow, reducing weight and boosting engine performance, linear power delivery, and rideability.

Additional engine improvements include a new cam chain designed to reduce friction losses. The chain is approximately two millimetres wider to decrease surface pressure during gear meshing. Optimised cam chain dampers, sprockets, and tensioner settings further enhance performance.

The 2025 WR250F also features a shorter muffler, improving handling through mass centralisation. Upgrades to the electric starter system ensure instant and reliable push-button starting in diverse conditions.

The seat has been redesigned to be flatter, slimmer, and more rounded, offering 10mm more legroom and repositioned bars moved forward by one pipe width. The height difference from front to rear is reduced by 15mm, and the seat edges are rounded to improve riding position freedom, allowing for better movement from front to rear, easier leg extension, and smoother transitions between seating and standing. The shrouds are 50mm narrower, further aiding rider mobility and handling.

New 300mm progressive travel forks have been optimised for off-road performance, contributing to a lower center of gravity. They feature model-specific spring rates and damping settings, with compression damping adjustments now easily changeable by hand.

The rear suspension has also been refined, with progressive 306mm travel that complements the front suspension in lowering the center of gravity. These suspension enhancements boost stability during cornering and enable the bike to navigate tight turns with ease.

The 2025 WR450F maintains its popular existing design with the addition of updated new graphics. Its liquid-cooled, four-stroke, electric start engine, derived directly from the YZ450F, delivers robust mid to top-end power while preserving class-leading low-end torque.

The 2025 Yamaha WR range will be available from October 2024 in Team Yamaha Blue at $16,799 for the all-new WR250F, while the WR450F will be $18,349 ride-away from August 2024. Visit www.yamaha-motor.com.au for complete information on the WRs, as well as the new YZ-X cross country line-up.
