Honda Racing has taken Jake Cannon to America for this weekend’s Scouting Moto Combine race at RedBud, the amateur development program that is on the schedule at two rounds of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

Now 17 years of age, Cannon is recognised as one of Australia’s top young prospects, winning the Penrite ProMX Championship rounds at Gillman and Maitland.

It is understood that Cannon will be part of the Fire Power Honda team founded by Yarrive Konsky, alongside domestic teammate Kyle Webster, with Dean Wilson also returning to the outdoors in 450MX this weekend. The pair of 25-minute Combine motos will take place on Friday afternoon.

With mentorship part of the Scouting Moto Combine initiative, Australian icon Chad Reed – the 2009 Pro Motocross champion – has been named as one of the four coaches to be involved once again, alongside 2020 national champion Zach Osborne, Broc Glover, who is himself a six-time champion outdoors, and Ezra Lusk.

Cannon also made an appearance on the international stage last year at the FIM Junior Motocross World Champioship in Romania, finishing fifth overall in the 125cc class.
