Queenslander Noah Ferguson has criticised his own performance at Murray Bridge’s fifth round of the 2024 Penrite ProMX Championship, labelling sixth overall as ’embarrassing’ while his Honda Racing teammates topped the podium.

The number 29 struggled to fire in South Australia, qualifying P10 before registering an 8-6 scorecard across the two motos – a stark contrast to Alex Larwood and Brodie Connolly, who traded race wins to finish first and second overall, respectively.

After making significant gains in the MX2 championship standings at Maitland’s previous round, where he placed himself just 13 points shy of red plate holder Connolly, Boost Mobile Honda Racing rider Ferguson’s P6 result on Sunday now sees him 32 points in arrears with just three rounds remaining.

“It was just one of those days,” Ferguson told MotoOnline. “It was embarrassing for the team and myself – I don’t have many words to say – it just wasn’t good enough. It’s one of those things… if it’s on, it’s on. It frustrates me more that I’m not riding to my capability. I work too hard for a fourth or a fifth or sixth, today just wasn’t good enough. I need to pull something out of the bag – I’m going for race wins now.”

The final three rounds of the ProMX series will take place in Ferguson’s home state of Queensland, with Toowoomba set to host the sixth stop of the series on 21 July.
