Racers Edge Performance Suzuki made its debut with experienced Victorian Scott Charlton at Phillip Island over the last fortnight, the team campaigning Suzuki GSX-R1000 machinery prepared by Phil Tainton Racing.

Taking part in the official Australian Superbike Championship test on 28-29 January, followed by a private test day on 8 February, where the team had its first opportunity to test at the venue of the opening round of the series, set to take place on 26-28 February.

“This is the most fun I have had on a race bike in a long time,” Charlton said.The Suzuki suits my riding style perfectly with aggressive power and tight cornering. I can’t wait for the first race!”

While adapting to the new bike, Charlton also had his first run on Dunlop’s D211GP control tyres while trying a variety of settings during the test. According to a team report, Charlton’s times during the test were competitive and comparative to the factory Team Joe Rocket Suzuki squad.

Like Charlton, team owner and director Greg Maher is also ecstatic about the first test results and is excited and optimistic for the new season.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way our first test days went,” Maher said. “The bike is performing brilliantly and Scott is fast and consistently improving his lap times. I am looking forward to our first race of the season at the World Superbikes in late February.”

Racers Edge Performance has also welcomed Ben Henry as part of the team and he will be testing his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Superstock A machine for the first time at Phillip Island next week, the ex-Allect Racing Superbike privateer looking to continue his development for the season ahead.
