Italian manufacturer elevates support across Australian national championships.
A broad presence across Australian off-road and a first foray into national motocross is due to firmly place Beta on the map domestically in 2024, bolstering the Italian brand’s increasing involvement in MXGP and AMA Supercross.
While the entries of Triumph and Ducati into the motocross market have captivated the industry globally, Beta’s push in motocross and supercross has somewhat flown under the radar. However, they have a grand plan in store to become a serious player in the racing scene locally.
Beta has a rich history in off-road and enduro, and is no stranger to motocross having released a RX 300 two-stroke for the American and Australian markets in 2021, along with a factory prototype 450 variant that’s been piloted in the MXGP World Championship for the last three seasons.
At the prestigious EICMA show in Milan of November 2023, Beta pulled the covers off its first-ever production RX 450 motocross bike, declaring its intentions to make an impact on the market. There was also one on display just weeks later at Melbourne’s final round of the World Supercross Championship.
The unveiling only strengthened rumours at the time of a factory Beta program in American Supercross, which was ultimately confirmed a month later in mid-December, with Colt Nichols and Benny Bloss announced as the riders for the newly-formed Liqui Moly Beta Supercross Team.
The Italian manufacturer made history at San Diego’s third round of AMA Supercross when Bloss put the RX 450 in the main event for the very first time, and Beta is now looking to make history in Australia too, revealing a campaign in the 2024 Penrite ProMX Championships alongside its long-standing off-road program.
Beta Motorcycles Australia recently announced it would take on the national motocross championship with talented Queenslander Levi Rogers, who will content the MX1 series in partnership with Caloundra Motorcycle Centre.
“It’s an exciting time for the Beta Motorcycles Australia Race Team with the expansion of the rider roster seeing us compete in more classes and more championships than ever before,” commented Ash Martin, Beta Motorcycles Australia team manager.
“Plus, with the all-new Beta RX 450, having Beta on the start gate at the ProMX championship is an exciting development for the team.”
Alongside offering extended support to a list of off-road riders, Beta will once again field a formidable enduro squad to take on the 2024 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC), led by the returning Fraser Higlett alongside new recruits Andy Wilksch and Jye Dickson.
In addition, Ben Kearns will head up the newly-formed Beta Ballards Off-Road Team when AORC takes off this weekend in Roma, Queensland, while Ruben Chadwick, Ebony Nielson, and Deegan Graham will also receive support from Beta in their endeavours this season.
A a result of the widespread program, it’s Beta’s strongest indication yet that it intends to be a force to be reckoned with across the board of domestic competition, and along with its entry to ProMX with Rogers, it marks a new chapter for the manufacturer here in Australia.
