Empire Kawasaki has signed Reid Taylor for its MX2 program ahead of the 2024 season, set to join the official team onboard KX250 in the new year.

Taylor contested select rounds of this year’s Penrite ProMX Championship in MX2, with the high point in terms of results being a P5 finish in moto one at Queensland Moto Park (QMP).

Racing with support from the Raceline Performance and Husqvarna in the Australian Supercross Championship, he finished eighth in the SX2 standings, achieving a best main event result of fifth in Newcastle’s third race. He now turns his attention outdoors and looks to deliver a strong campaign in green.

“I’m stoked to go racing with these guys next year,” Taylor told MotoOnline. “I will continue training with Craig Anderson too, so I’m excited to get a bike in the next couple of weeks and get to work.

“There’s a lot less stress on my behalf now being a part of a team. There’s a lot less for me to do behind the scenes during the week, I can just get my work done day in and day out, focus on myself and turn up on race day ready to get the job done.

“Being on Empire Kawasaki just gives me that confidence also, knowing that the team believes in me and has my back – I’m really excited to go racing with this crew next year.”

Additionally, MXW front-runner Tayla McCutcheon has re-signed with the Empire Motorsports-operated team, and while it has not yet been officially announced, Luke Clout is all but confirmed to be spearheading the roster onboard the new 2024 KX450.
