The short, sharp layout inside the Adelaide Entertainment Centre means nobody can be counted out, according to Froth Honda Racing’s Dean Wilson, set to open his first complete Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) campaign tomorrow.

Wilson, 31, contested the first round of AUSX last year at Marvel Stadium and finished third in the main event, before returning home for the birth of his child.

After contesting Monster Energy Supercross, the opening round of the World Supercross Championship (WSX), plus the SuperMotocross World Championship (WSX) post-season with Fire Power Honda this year, Wilson returns to Australia for his first full season in AUSX.

“I feel good, just rode it a little bit here [on press day] and, yeah, it’s going to be interesting,” explained Wilson. “It’s going to be good racing, I will tell you that much – the fans are going to get their money’s worth. I think anyone could win it, so you are going to need to get a good start and stay out of the craziness, the carnage.

“It’s very tight, small, but we are going to make the best of it. We came a long ways here, so going to do the best I can and hopefully put the Honda on the box.

“There is a good group of guys and I don’t count anybody out in this series, because the tracks are small and sometimes they are not super-technical, so a lot of guys go fast. I’ve been watching this series for a long time and I don’t count anyone out, because all of the AUS guys are really good.

“Obviously, there’s the OG, Mossy [Matt Moss], and then [Luke] Clout, [Aaron] Tanti… I’m probably missing guys, but obviously JB [Justin Brayton] is here and there are so many [good riders]. It’s a good group, it’s going to be some good racing and it’s a stacked 450 class this year, so I don’t count anyone out, ever.”

Gates drop on the 2023 AUSX championship this Saturday night inside Adelaide Entertainment Centre, with Boost Mobile Honda Racing’s Brayton and teammate Max Anstie the defending champions in SX1 and SX2, respectively.
