A return to MX2 competition will go ahead for Yamalube Yamaha Racing’s Jayce Cosford in round seven of the 2023 Penrite ProMX Championship this weekend at Queensland Moto Park (QMP).

Cosford was taken down by another rider in the early laps of the opening moto at Maitland and was then struck by another bike as he was trying to remount.

The impact caused the MCL in his knee to tear bone from the top of his tibia. Fortunately, the Queenslander escaped requiring surgery for the injury and has been able to return to riding after some rehab and extended time off.

“The recovery went well,” Cosford told MotoOnline. “I had to have a little bit of extra time off the bike to be safe, but I’ve slowly gotten back into it.

“I’m keen as. I haven’t raced in ages, so I’m excited to get back out there. I’ve had a couple of weeks back on the bike now, so I’m feeling pretty good. I wouldn’t say I’m back to 100 percent yet, but I’m good enough to get some good results, I reckon.”

After a seven-week break, the 2023 Penrite ProMX Championship returns this weekend as the series heads into its final two rounds of the season, with the penultimate round at QMP set for this Sunday, 13 August.
