KTM Racing Team’s Nathan Crawford has conceded that he ‘can’t do anything more than just win races’ in a bid to reduce the 35-point deficit to defending MX2 champion Wilson Todd across the final two rounds of Penrite ProMX.

Crawford has shown electric speed throughout his 2023 campaign so far, winning the Appin and Toowoomba rounds in addition to moto two at Wodonga and the opening race at Maitland.

However, disqualification from Wonthaggi and a DNF in the first outing at Wodonga have left him on the back-foot points-wise to Todd, with the red plate-holder maintaining a healthy lead by virtue of consistent results. Those included the Gillman sweep and victories in moto one at Wonthaggi and the second encounter at Echo Valley.

“I can’t do anything more than just win races and let the rest play out,” Crawford told MotoOnline. “It’s not always as easy as winning every race, I think it’s just trying to minimise mistakes and manage a whole lot of things – just try and win and see what happens.

“At the end of the day, the team and I are in a great spot. I’m happy with the season and how it has gone already so far. We will just have to see what happens, all I can do is control my own race and let the rest all unfold behind me.”

The battle for the MX2 championship continues this Sunday when round seven of the 2023 Penrite ProMX Championship drops the gates at Queensland Moto Park (QMP), before arriving at Coolum for the finals one week later.
