Raceline Berry Sweet Husqvarna Racing team manager and MX1 rider Todd Waters says he wants ‘to be competitive again on the bike,’ after admitting that it has taken its toll on him as he tries to juggle running the race team and being a front-runner in the highly-competitive 450 class.

The former champion landed on the podium back at round three in Wodonga, but a tough last two rounds have seen him finish 10th and eighth.

“It’s definitely been a task, it’s taken its toll on me as an athlete,” Waters told MotoOnline. “So, I’m forward planning now for 2024 to get it rolling. It was a big stressful start to the year, cause this got finalised at the end of December, so now I’m forward planning everything as well as my training. I want to come into 2024 and be competitive again on the bike and have a team that’s well-prepared and ready to go racing.

“This year I’ve been behind the eight ball on everything, So I’m excited, I’m jut trying to build myself as a racer, I know I’m a long way off cause I just haven’t been able to put in what I needed to. So, I’m learning, putting systems in place for the workers, for the riders and just everything, so that’s what we’re working on, just trying to get that all in place. So yeah, we’ll keep charging and I’m looking forward to it.”

Waters now sits P7 in the MX1 standings on 126 points as the series heads into a four-week break. Round six of the Penrite ProMX Championship takes place on 25 June at the famous Echo Valley circuit in Toowoomba, Queensland.
