Looking to learn from outing in Portugul to improve in Spain.
Bud Racing fill-in Liam Owens gained vital experience in his EMX250 shakedown in Portugal and looks to improve his riding and results as he spends more time on the European circuit.
Owens, 15, made a quick decision to head overseas for the third of the EMX250 Championship at Agueda, filling in for the team rider Benjamin Garib onboard the KX250.
The Australian posted to the 25th quickest lap in timed practice and went on to notch a 23-23 scorecard, landing him 25th overall for the round. It was a big learning curve for Owens across the event, becoming accustomed to the new team, new track and the KX250, having previously raced in the Australian MX3 Championship with support from Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing team before deciding to mutually part ways with the outfit to take advantage of the emerging international opportunity.
“That was a cool experience! I’m improving every time I get out on the tracks here in Europe,” Owens shared. “I feel over time my riding and results will improve more and more as I gain experience on the European circuit.”
Owens’ fill-in opportunity will extend to round four of the 2023 EMX250 Championship in Spain this weekend, to take place at intu Xanadú – Arroyomolinos.
