Former AMA East Coast Lites Supercross Champion Ben Townley has again demonstrated his prowess on a Supercross track by winning the second round of the New Zealand Championship at Motueka on Sunday.
Townley swept all three races to stretch out a comfortable series lead, winning the round ahead of Suzuki’s Cody Cooper and new national Motocross champion Justin McDonald.
With the result, Townley now leads the series by 20 points over McDonald, while Mason Phillips sits third in the points after finishing fourth on the weekend.
The Lites class saw defending champion Scott Columb take victory for Suzuki, scoring 1-2-1 results for the overall ahead of round one winner Phillips, snatching the series lead in the process.
This weekend will see Tokora host the third round of the series on Saturday night, with the finale set for Manukau City on 23 January.
