The supercross preparations of returning Luke Clout have commenced with the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy rider completing his first laps back on the bike since breaking his tibia and fibula in April.

Clout was sidelined for four months following the crash while leading moto one of ProMX at Mackay, and shared it’s the hardest injury he has dealt with in his career.

“Four months off is a long time and I went straight to riding supercross,” Clout told MotoOnline. “It was definitely a bit of a shock to the system, from not riding at all to getting straight into supercross. It was actually a little bit better than I thought it was going to be, there’s obviously some stuff we need to get on top of with my leg in the strength and things like that.

“Overall it was pretty good, and I had my second ride the other day as well and it was better than the first ride. On each ride I’m doing, it is getting better and I’m just looking forward to getting a couple more weeks under my belt and I think we will be in a pretty good position.”

The 2022 supercross season for Clout commences inside Principality Stadium, Wales for round one of the World Supercross Championship (WSX) on 8 October, before returning to Australia to compete in the series’ second round, alongside the opener for the Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) at Marvel Stadium across 21-22 October. He will represent CDR in both series onboard a YZ450F.
