The gates will drop for the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, next month on 9 January, with Australian riders primed to standout stateside next year.

Leading the charge will be former double world and AMA champion Chad Reed in his switch to Monster Kawasaki, ready to go head-to-head after recently wrapping up the Australasian Super X Championship. Reed, who recently jetted back to the U.S, will also defend his AMA Motocross Championship when the outdoor season commences in May.

Joining Reed on the gate at Anaheim I will be Queenslander Dan Reardon on the MotoConcepts Yamaha team, recently debuting on the 2010 model YZ450F and is set to contest his first full AMA season on the 450 after two frustrating seasons in the Lites.

South Australian Brett Metcalfe will remain on the Geico Powersports Honda team in the West Coast Lites Supercross title, before stepping up to the 450 class for the nationals.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki rookie Matt Moss will miss the opening round at least in his first season based in America, the reigning Australian Pro Lites Supercross and Motocross Champion recovering from a compressed vertebra suffered at Brisbane’s Super X finale. Moss will ride the 450 in both Supercross and Motocross when recovered.

Moss’ brother Jake has officially signed with the Canidae Rockstar Suzuki team to contest the East Coast Lites Supercross Championship, although he’s still healing from a badly broken arm suffered at the opening Super X round in Tasmania. It’s uncertain what class Moss will ride in the outdoors.

Former Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Michael Byrne is currently without a seat for 2010, the Queenslander back at his American base in Georgia hoping to land a ride with a privately-run Yamaha team in time for the season opener.
