Motorcycling Victoria (MV)  has announced that it will hold its inaugural Awards Dinner in November 2010, the annual event to be held on 26 November at the Moonee Valley Racecourse with motorsport commentator Greg Rust will act as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

Rust has had a long and distinguished career in motorsport commentary and currently hosts the Australian Superbike Championship coverage on ONE HD.

The Awards Dinner will acknowledge those who have achieved outstanding results in 2010, both in Victoria and abroad.

Four ‘Rider of the Year’ categories will be presented to the best Male, Female, Junior and International riders from Victoria. Only the best riders can be nominated ensuring that whoever takes out each award has well and truly deserved it. Three other awards will be presented on the night and will acknowledge those at grassroots level of the sport, with award categories for Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Club of the Year.

The decision on the Club of the Year will be determined by pre-arranged set of criteria where clubs are awarded points for both on-track and off-track events. The club with the most number of points will be presented the Club of the Year award.

MV Sports Development & Education Officer, Paul Williams, is delighted at this announcement.

“This Awards Night has been a long time coming and has been something that has been bandied about over the last few years and it is fantastic to now be in a position where we can really showcase our best Victorian riders. The Awards Dinner will be a great night and we encourage as many people as possible to attend, you won’t be disappointed,” he said.

Tickets to the Awards Dinner will go on sale in early 2010 and will cost $65.00 per person, or $550 for a table of 10, which includes a three-course meal, drinks and entertainment, while all MV Licence Holders will be sent a Flyer and Booking Form early in the new year encouraging people to attend.
