The MXGP momentum of Australia’s Mitch Evans continues to build after a positive weekend at Loket saw the Team HRC rider finish seventh overall.

Evans ran P6 in each lap of moto one and ultimately finished the race in that position, before a better start to the second bout saw him inside the top five.

The number 43 held fifth for the majority of the race, however, he suffered from severe blisters in the closing stages and was regulated to seventh by Jorge Prado and Calvin Vlaanderen.

“Overall I am happy with how the races went, going six-seven for seventh overall,” Evans recalled. “Whilst the results weren’t quite as good as my results in Indonesia, I felt that I was able to keep the pace of the top guys and other than the end of the second moto when I had really bad blisters, I felt like I was doing a good job of matching their speed.

“I was in fifth for the majority of that second moto and if I would have stayed there, I would have been fifth overall so it is all positive. Now I have to let my hands heal a bit before heading to Lommel and doing my first ever laps on that track this coming weekend.”

Evans has not finished a race outside the top eight in the last three rounds, with his strongest result of the season to date coming in Indonesia where he was fifth in moto two. He is 11th in the 2022 MXGP World Championship standings following the MXGP of Czech Republic.
