Oz MX: 2010 Stadium Motocross Series set for Queanbeyan

DIRT BIKE PROMOTIONS:

The 2010 Stadium Motocross Series kicks off next month.

The 2010 Stadium Motocross Series kicks off next month.

One of Australia’s most followed and popular motocross series returns to Queanbeyan (NSW) Showgrounds on Saturday, January 9th bringing along some of this country’s best junior and senior motocross riders.

The 2010 Stadium Motocross Series is expected to attract over 250 riders as it embarks on its tenth year.

Riders from Nippers (50cc riders) right through to Professional Lites and Open MX and SX riders compete in the series with many of the Pro riders using the events as great training for National Motocross and Supercross events.

Entries are filling fast as spots are limited with only 24 riders for each class this year a new format that Dirt Bike Promotions (DBP) hopes will please riders.

Promoter Phil Sargent of DBP believes the events bring alot to the towns they visit.

“Our races bring a lot to the local economies of the towns and cities we visit and are a great family day out for people to come and watch some of the fastest racers around,” Sargent said.

“The specially designed, man-made track will include jumps and whoops formed from more than 12,000 tonnes of dirt inside the arena at Orange Showgrounds.

“We asked riders what they want and they want more ride time on the track and track designs more like Supercross.

“We have structured the series to take less riders as to make more time available on the track for racing.

“I have designed tracks that are tight in sections with rhythm jump sections, but still some fast flowing sections, which many riders like as well.

“The tracks have to cater for a wide range of ages and abilities so it makes it tricky to get the happy medium, and hopefully I have done that,” Sargent said.

Round two of the series will be held in Bathurst (NSW) on 30th January 2010 and the final round will be held in Maitland (NSW) on 13th March 2010.

We always have a good following of riders from the Queanbeyan and Canberra areas and hope that riders take up the opportunity to race in front of a home crowd. Entries are open to any rider with a National Motorcycling Australia license from nippers to juniors and clubman, women’s and pro lites and pro opens.

Gates at the Queanbeyan Showgrounds will open at 9am Saturday. Admission costs: $15.00/adult/day, $9.00/child/day (5yrs – 14yrs) and under 5yrs FREE.
