Waters and Simpson complete podium in 2022.
GasGas-mounted Daniel Sanders claimed victory at the 2022 Penrite Hattah Desert Race, marking his second title at the prestigious event.
In his return to domestic competition, Sanders showed strong speed from the onset to set the pace in the Top 10 Shootout, narrowly ahead of Husqvarna’s Todd Waters and Jack Simpson (Husqvarna).
The Victorian went on to win the eight-lap senior race, crossing the line 2m31.980s faster than Waters, with Simpson third, 5m51.944s from the lead. Andy Wilksch (Husqvarna) and Lachlan Terry (KTM) – who was fastest in Saturday’s Prologue – completed the top five.
Sanders also topped the 251-450 four-stroke class, ahead of Josh Green (ShopYamaha Off-Road Racing) and Beau Ralston, as Waters took the victory in over 450 four-stroke from Simpson and Wilksch.
In up to 250 four-stroke, it was Kyron Bacon (ShopYamaha Off-Road Racing) who was fastest ahead of Campbell Hall (Yamaha) and Rory Hill (Husqvarna), with Samuel Pretscherer (Simford Racing Husqvarna) taking the win in under 19s from Blake Hollis (ShopYamaha Off-Road Team) and Riley McGillivray (KTM).
Honda Racing’s Emma Milesevic took a dominant victory in Ladies eight-lap, ahead of Madi Healey (Honda) and Emmelie Karlsson (KTM) who completed the top three.
