Victorian to compete for second title at prestigious desert event.
GasGas Factory Racing rally contender Daniel Sanders is set to make a return to domestic competition at the 2022 Penrite Hattah Desert Race early next month.
Sanders’ entry into the prestigious desert race marks his first appearance competing in Australia since switching to rally during the 2020 season.
The 27-year-old – who won the Dakar prologue and two stages of the rally earlier this year with GasGas Factory Racing – has shared footage of himself testing a MC 450F and confirmed he has reunited with technician Lewie Landrigan in preparation for event.
“Thankful to have Lewie Landrigan still supporting me after two years apart,” Sanders shared. “He is back on the tools making my racing in Australia a lot easier! It was good to bring him down over the weekend to do some testing on the MC 450F in preparation for the Hattah desert race in three weeks.”
The Victorian captured the Hattah crown in 2018 with Husqvarna before he was cruelly denied a back-to-back victory in 2019 when his bike suffered water damage to its electrical system. He will have the chance to win the event for the second time when the 2022 edition takes place between 1-3 July.
