Motocross series part of an immense new motorsport portfolio.
Stan Sport will broadcast the Australian ProMX Championship and MXGP World Championship in 2022, the Nine Entertainment-owned streaming service continuing to enhance its motorsport portfolio ahead of the new season.
ProMX debuted on Fox Sports in a package combined with SBS and live-streaming online last year, however, the national series will make the move to Stan Sport – terms of the new arrangement undisclosed – when the series opens at Wonthaggi on 27 March.
While Motorcycling Australia (MA) is yet to detail its complete broadcast plan, with that announcement due next week, it is anticipated that ProMX will remain on free-to-air television in a continuation with SBS. It’s unclear whether the free live-stream previously available through the series website and Facebook will return.
The Stan Sport partnership extends across to the MA-operated Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), with the platform also recently securing the rights to the IndyCar Series, World Rally Championship, World Endurance Championship, Formula E and the Australian Racing Group-led SpeedSeries including TCR Australia.
“Superbikes and motocross add yet more outstanding motorsport action into our Stan Sport line-up and we’re particularly excited to add quality two-wheel action,” Stan director of sport Ben Kimber explained. “These series are growing fast and at Stan Sport we know how to help sports accelerate.”
Stan Sport has also secured exclusive rights to the MXGP World Championship, marking its return to an Australian-based broadcaster, in time for this weekend’s opening round at Matterley Basin. It was initially thought that the American Pro Motocross series would land on Stan as reported last year, however, that will instead be available through MAVTV globally.
