Husqvarna Racing Team will elevate its motocross effort for the 2022 season, seeing former national champion Todd Waters return and to be joined by new MX2 signing Dylan Wills.

Former national champion Waters is determined to reclaim the number one plate next year, the 31-year-old certain to be a formidable force aboard the FC 450. He was third overall in the shortened 2021 ProMX series.

Waters and Husqvarna won the 2019 Australian MX1 championship together and the experienced Queenslander has also achieved international success in his career, previously standing on the MXGP podium.

“For myself, continuing the relationship with Husqvarna is the most important thing for me in my career at the moment,” Waters commented. “We jumped back on Husqvarna in 2019 and we brought home the 450 motocross championship, so I’m really excited and we’ve got a really good bike under us in the FC 450.

“Kyle Blunden has come onboard to manage the program and I’m really happy with the program moving forwards. My mechanic Jason Waters – my cousin – he’s my practice mechanic, as well as my race-day mechanic, so heading into 2022 our program is faultless. I’m working hard at the moment, excited to get back racing.”

In addition, Wills is a proven MX2 podium threat and will benefit from increased structure as he joins the brand onboard a FC 250 for the 2022 season. The 25-year-old is looking forward to gate-drop next year and showing what he is capable of, motivated to improve on his sixth position scored in this season.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity,” expressed Wills. “One thing I think I needed in my career to take the next step is structure and some great people in my corner – in the Husqvarna Racing Team I get all of that.

“I’ve got some really good relationships throughout the staff from being around and knowing everyone for so long now and I’m confident this is the opportunity that I’ve been looking for, for quite a while now. It’s fallen into my lap and it’s up to me to make the most of it, so I’m excited.”

KTM Group Australia motorsport manager Kyle Blunden added: “Continuing our exceptional relationship with Todd Waters on the FC 450 and welcoming Dylan Wills on the FC 250 is very exciting for Husqvarna Motorcycles in 2022.

“Not only is Todd hungrier than ever to take back the number one plate, but his can-do attitude and remarkable work ethic make him an ideal teammate for Dylan, who is eager to learn and progress through the ranks of professional motocross and supercross.

“Dylan is technically very good on a motorcycle and is in a great headspace with a clear plan ahead of him. With Todd showing him the ropes as not only one of the nations’ best motocross racers, but also a sensational brand ambassador for Husqvarna Motorcycles, we cannot wait to see what the next year of racing has in store.”
