Both 2022 motocross and off-road seasons continue to take shape.
A dual Penrite ProMX Championship and Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) weekend will take place between 8-10 April in Mackay, Queensland, for 2022.
Spread over three days of competition, AORC rounds three and four will be held on Friday and Saturday (8-9 April), with the second round of ProMX set for Sunday, 10 April.
“I have no doubt the size and spectacle of these off-road racing championships will be in good hands with our passionate community and we look forward to welcoming the teams, riders and fans to enjoy and explore our region,” Mackay mayor Greg Williamson explained.
A ProMX and AORC double was due for Queensland Moto Park (QMP) this year, but didn’t eventuate due to the pair of series not reaching their completion. Its unclear if QMP will be on either schedule for next season.
The event will mark round two of the ProMX championship, round one of an eight-round series previously announced to be held at Wonthaggi, Victoria, on 27 March. The remaining six rounds have yet to be announced.
Mackay will host rounds three and four of the 2022 AORC, with Motorcycling Australia (MA) revealing it will be a 12-round series across five states, set to continue with the double-header format. The first stop on the calendar will be in March in Victoria, however, an exact date and location are not yet specified.
The full ProMX and AORC calendars are set to be uncovered in the coming weeks as each series strives to build after the previous covid-impacted seasons.
