Minimum requirements not met to crown 2021 national champions.
The 2021 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) has been cancelled altogether due to ongoing state border restrictions, with minimum requirements not met to crown national champions.
The AORC has been on hold for a number of months, only able to conduct two rounds in April at Golden Beach, Victoria, a minimum of three rounds needed for titles to be awarded.
“We completely understand the frustration and disappointment felt by riders, teams and fans,” Motorcycling Australia (MA) CEO Peter Doyle stated.
“It has been a very difficult past 18 months for the sport, for the AORC riders and teams. We thank them for their patience and support during this time, but with state governments failing to guarantee the timeline of the reopening of state borders, the tough decision needs to be made.”
Prior to the series cancellation, Mason Semmens (GasGas Racing Team) was leading the E1 class, Todd Waters (Husqvarna Racing Team) was on top in E2, Daniel Milner (KTM Racing Team) had a perfect 50 points in E3 and Emma Milesevic (Honda) led EW.
