Factory Honda rider extends points lead with runner-up result.
250MX points leader Jett Lawrence has likened High Point to a ‘Euro track’ after earning a podium result in his first appearance at the venue for round three of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
The Australian, who raced in the European Motocross Championship (EMX) before moving to America, indicated the elevation of the High Point circuit had similarities to the venues he raced at while in Europe.
The teenager once again put in another strong performance to finish with runner-up honours behind first-time winner Jalek Swoll (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing), notching up a consistent 3-2 scorecard.
“It was a really sick track – it felt more like a Euro track with all the elevation,” Lawrence explained. “It was a tricky track – I felt like, especially with the rain, you had to find out what was slippery and what was tacky – especially with the sawdust that they added in this week.
“It was a fun track though – I really liked it – it brought out a skill level [where] if you weren’t on it and didn’t have your balance correct, it would be a nightmare.”
Lawrence was able to extend his points advantage by a further point over Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Yamaha), who he now leads by 11 ahead of Redbud on 4 July.
