Raceline KTM Thor finish second in in the SX2 class Championship with Josh Osby at the conclusion of SX Open Melbourne’s final round of the 2019 Australian Supercross series.

The day would start well for Osby, who qualified as the fastest rider out of the day’s timed qualifying sessions and went into the nights heat race feeling confident. The night took a turn for the worse for Osby in the very first lap of the heat race, as he took the early lead, Osby would get landed on by another rider at the conclusion of lap one and hit the ground hard. Scrambling to his feet, Osby would salvage an eight position, making the direct transfer to the main, but ultimately having a poor gate pick for the three race main event format.

In the opening main event race, Osby pulled a top five start and rode consistently on the slippery track, avoiding the opening laps carnage to finish the race a consistent fifth position, on track with both his and the teams game plan for another night of solid results to land on the podium. However, in main event two, Osby would be dealt a fatal blow to his championship aspirations. Finishing the race in fourth position, Josh was penalised three positions by the officials after jumping on a waved yellow flag section of the track, officially dropping him to seventh position in the race and leaving him with no choice but to win the final main event of the night to get back on the podium overall and win the Championship. Osby would set out guns blazing in the final race, leading briefly early on, before a collision with another rider would rupture the oil filler cap and set off a steaming motor leaking oil, making the bike extremely difficult to ride at speed with limited brakes. This final blow would see Osby fall from the lead pack, dropping to twelfth position in the race and seventh overall on the evenings overall in SX2, leaving the Championship title go to his fellow countryman Chris Blose.

“Tonight was one of the hardest nights of my career. I put myself in good positions like I have all season, but unfortunately it just didn’t work out. It seemed like nothing went my way from the beginning of the heat race on and although we tried, it wasn’t meant to be this time around. I want to thank the entire team, we came so close and they gave me everything I needed to get the job done. But that’s racing and hopefully I’ll be back for redemption next year,” Said Osby.

In another fantastic showing to cap off his rookie Supercross season, Regan Duffy would finish a very impressive fifth overall with ninth, fifth and sixth positions respectively in the three SX2 main events. Duffy was in the thick of the battles all night long , showing maturity and aggression when it counted to make big passes and stay with the lead packs track position. A fifth overall culminates a fantastic rookie Supercross season for Duffy, who has learned the ropes quickly and exceeded industry expectations at many rounds, leading to seventh overall in the SX2 Championship standings.

“Tonight was intense for me, the track here at Marvel Stadium was unreal. I had to figure out a few rhythm sections after the days timed sessions, but we worked it out for the main events and it made a big difference come race time. I had some close calls out there tonight, the racing was incredible to be a part of and I had a great time. I can’t thank the team and everyone in my corner enough, 2019 has been a solid start to my Professional career,” commented Duffy.

In an unfortunate incident, SX1 rider Henry Miller would crash in the timed qualifying session during the day and be forced to retire from the event with minor injuries, following a collision with another rider.
