Hosted in Maitland, NSW, the seventh round of the MX Nationals has seen racers running Dunlop Geomax take four from five race wins across the MX1 and MX2 championship classes. A 1-2 overall from CDR Yamaha Monster Energy’s Luke Clout and Kirk Gibbs in the premier MX1 (450cc) class and second overall in the MX2 (250cc) for Serco Yamaha’s Nathan Crawford headline the strong results.

Choosing the Dunlop Geomax MX33 pattern front and rear, Serco Yamaha’s Nathan Crawford led the charge in the MX2 class, taking his first race win of the year, followed by a second place in moto two for second overall. Yamalube Yamaha’s Jay Wilson (3-4) continues his push for the championship, and now sits just 20 points off the lead in third place after racing to third overall in Maitland. He was followed closely by Serco Yamaha’s Aaron Tanti (5-3) in fourth, securing a 2-3-4 finish for Dunlop in the 250cc-based class.

With the MX1 class racing the back-to-back 8-lap format before a third 16-lap race, it was longtime Dunlop-supported team CDR Yamaha Monster Energy that proved too good. Luke Clout (1-1-2) took back-to-back moto wins, before his teammate Kirk Gibbs (2-4-1) raced to a final moto win, securing 1-2 overall, and again choosing the MX33 pattern Geomax tyre.

The round win sees Clout move back into the championship lead with three rounds of racing, spread over just two weekends, left in the series.

It’s good to see CDR Yamaha taking a 1-2 overall with Kirk Gibbs taking a strong moto win, and Luke Clout continues to show how much he wants this MX1 championship, with outright speed and minimising mistakes to take points at every opportunity. I was really happy to see Jay Wilson, with MX33 front and rear, in the mix again this weekend, tightening up the MX2 championship chase, as well as Nathan Crawford taking a race win in MX2. He’s a talented racer and looks like he’s finding his old form again. The championship is fast drawing to a close and the Dunlop Geomax range continues to be the preferred tyre for Australia’s fastest racers.”
