Round eight this weekend to prove pivotal in premier class title hunt.
DPH Motorsport Husqvarna’s Todd Waters says he’s comfortable with his championship ranking of third ahead this weekend’s eighth round of the 2019 Pirelli MX Nationals at Moree in New South Wales, despite previously holding the red-plate at two rounds in the second half of the series.
An uncharacteristic ‘off’ weekend at Maitland two weeks ago saw the popular Queenslander drop from P1 to P3 in the standings, where he now sits 12 points off leader Luke Clout (CDR Yamaha Monster Energy).
Waters is confident he can return to his winning ways this weekend, which will be pivotal in earning a maiden premier class crown is just over a week’s time at Coolum’s double-header finale.
“I’ve had another great couple of weeks on the DPH Husqvarna FC 450 since Maitland,” said Waters. “It’s incredible how at home I feel on the bike and I just really love going riding at the moment.
“I’m comfortable with my position in the championship, and I’m going to keep focusing on myself, improving the little things to make sure I give myself the best chance to win every time the gate drops. My goal for this weekend is the same – win races.”
It’s a three-way fight for the MX1 championship, as Hayden Mellross (Raceline KTM Thor) separates Clout and Waters in second, nine points shy of the red-plate holder.
