MOTORCYCLING AUSTRALIA:
Davide Gozzini (Franzone / 747 TM 450) swept all before him in the S1 class of The HWE Maintenance Services Australian Supermoto Championships at the Wanneroo International Kart Track yesterday.
The Italian won all three races in the first round on Saturday and then backed it up in reverse direction on Sunday with another three wins.
He put on a display of riding skills never before seen in WA, and the crowd hung on his every move.
In the S2, Gozzini’s feat was emulated by Angus Reekie (Motorex KTM 505) also scoring a perfect six from six his challengers also put on some great riding but they were unable to find a way past him and could only settle for the minor placings.
“It’s a strange thing for me to be Australian Supermoto Champion,” Gozzini said.
“I’m very happy because this maybe the last time I work with my mechanic Alberto (Bosio), so I’m happy for me, happy for Alberto, happy for TM and very happy for my good friend Joe (Grasso) he made it all happen, and without everything he did I wouldn’t be here today.”
Reekie was equally satisfied about his back to back S2 titles.
“I’m happy to win the S2 title for the second year in a row,” Reekie said.
“At the end of the day, I’m very happy with what we achieved this weekend we got one title and I learnt a lot over the weekend, so I’m happy.”
