DPH Motorsport press release:
The AUS-X Open kicks off tomorrow with racing slated for Saturday night at Quodos Bank Arena in Sydney for DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing. Both Hayden Mellross and Dylan Wills are looking to finish the supercross season strongly, while AMA regular, Dean Wilson, will also pit out of the DPH Transporter for the weekend.
Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “It’s great to finish not only the season, but our year, at an event like this: huge crowds, close racing and some of the world’s best to show that our homegrown talent is competitive around the world. Hayden is focused on doing the job in front of him. He wants to take this SX2 Championship and his only option is to win this weekend and let rest of the cards fall. Dylan is as motivated as I’ve ever seen him. Flashes of speed in previous rounds and a few good race results have given him confidence and he wants to perform in front of his home crowd, so he’s definitely going to be one to watch. Dean Wilson is riding one of our bikes this weekend so it’s great to have a presence in the SX1 class in the final round. Make sure you come past the truck and say hi to all three guys over the weekend!”
Hayden Mellross: “What a season so far! New bike, broken toes, a few fourths as they started to heal and some race wins when it counts. I personally really like the triple crown format. It really brings out the consistency of everyone – when you’re trying to win a championship, you have to put in consistent rides to get that championship. I’m going in there this weekend to just solely win. I’ve put a lot of hard work in and I feel great. I know that, if I ride like I can and let everything unfold like it’s going to, anything can happen no matter what.”
Dylan Wills: “I’m having so much fun riding my bike this year. There’s been ups and downs, but that’s racing. My fitness and bike speed have been there all year and now I can’t wait to finish the year strong. I know what I’m capable of and the entire DPH Husqvarna crew are behind me, so I’m excited to get on track in my hometown and put in some consistent rides in all three races and get onto the box.”
Practice and qualifying are on Friday night, and racing gets underway Saturday from 6pm.
The official Pit Party is open from 3pm Friday and 12pm Saturday, so make sure you come and say hi to the DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing Team.
