Race three runner-up grants Victorian fourth overall at Port Adelaide.
CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team’s Dylan Long overcame fractured ribs to record his best result so far in the 2018 Australian Supercross Championship at Port Adelaide’s fourth round on Saturday evening.
Long sustained the broken ribs in qualifying held earlier in the day when he experienced a heavy fall on entry into whoop section, which saw the popular Victoria receive assistance from Racesafe to manage the injury throughout the night.
He bounced back with strong form, lodging an impressive 6-4-2 scorecard for fourth overall, placing him just three points shy of second in the round’s overall standings.
“Tonight was better from me and I felt really competitive in all three races,” Long explained. “This format mixes up the points so much, so you have to keep plugging away every race and you never know how it ends up.
“Tonight, I was fourth, but only three points from the second so that’s good progress and hopefully I can keep that rolling into the final round in Sydney in a few weeks’ time.
“The track was good tonight and the dirt was the best of the rounds so far. I just needed to get a start and I think I have a chance of getting a race win or two if I can get clear track early in the main events.”
The talented number seven is currently positioned fifth in the championship rankings as the series heads to the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney finale next month.
