South Australia domination

Yamaha MXstore Ballards Off-Road Team press release:

Last weekend the Yamaha Mxstore Ballards Offroad Team headed down to Kingston S.E, South Australia for Round 8 and 9 of the Australian Offroad Championship.

For a nice change the team of Jeremy Carpentier and Jess Gardiner were set out to ride in prestige conditions being no dust and some fun in the sandy terrain. The weather was almost perfect in South Australia over the weekend, despite a lot of mosquitos to battle with.
Jeremy Carpenter equipped on his Yamaha Motor Australia WR250F had a good day of racing on Saturday being on the ‘bumpiest track of the weekend’, he stated “My bike and promoto suspension handled extremely well together and I took a lot of pleasure on the track, although as most people today I made a lot of mistakes as it was easy to do”. Jeremy finished a respective 3rd place in the E1 Pro class.

Meanwhile Jess was racing on the fastest, flow-est track of the weekend and it was nothing but smiles all weekend. Jess dominated the Women’s class with winning every heat race of the day to claim a few more winning points towards her Championship lead. Jess said, “ I really loved our track today and I had a lot of confidence in my setup this weekend on my WR250F. My promoto suspension really helped out there and the Michelin tyres really hooked into the terrain”. On Sunday, for Round 9 of racing all riders changed tracks in an anti clockwise direction. Therefore the pros raced on the junior’s track and Gardiner was now racing on the Pro track from Saturday.

Jeremy found it a little bit more difficult on Sunday as the track was in deeper sand although rode consistent and smooth all day with just one crash to finish a rewarding 2nd place in the E1 pro class!

Jess had a day quite similar in the ladies division winning almost every heat over her nearest competition Emelie Karlsson, except one crash on the physically demanding rough track. Gardiner stated, “ Today was quite tough, as it was like a whoop section the whole way around the track deep in the tea trees, so it was very one line. All in all I had a very good weekend of racing and after being so sick with the flu at the last round in Broken Hill, it was a big confidence boost to come back strong.”

The next stop for the Yamaha Mxstore Ballards Offroad Team will be at Omeo, Victoria on the 6th and 7th of October for the final two rounds of the Australian Offroad Championship.
