Deal still not locked for 2019 season according to the Australian.
Australian supercross and motocross legend Chad Reed will pilot a JGR-prepared Autotrader Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing RM-Z450 in both Sydney’s AUS-X Open and the S-X Open Auckland as part of the 2018 Monster Energy S-X Open International Supercross FIM Oceania Championship.
Reed has been testing the JGR machine for over a month now, contesting the final round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship with the outfit, while it was recently announced he’ll continue to work with the team at the Monster Energy Cup in October.
“I’m coming to Australia and Auckland to win both events and the S-X Open FIM Oceania Championship,” Reed commented. “As far as 2019 goes, I still don’t have a ride locked in. My plan right now is to do the best I can at the Monster Cup, Sydney and Auckland and try to use my results there to lock in a deal for next year. I’m 100 percent aiming to line up for A1 ready to race for podiums and wins and will be doing everything I can to do that.
“The AUS-X Open is on my highest priority list of wins this year for sure. Look at Barcia and Anderson, probably two of the gnarliest, most aggressive riders in AMA supercross right now and I’ve got to go deal with that. My passion for riding is at a really good point right now, I’m really enjoying the fight and I’m really pushing hard to be a part of the team in ‘19.”
The Monster Energy AUS-X Open is scheduled to take place at Qudos Bank Arena on 10 November, while the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland is set for 24 November at Mt Smart Stadium in New Zealand.
