Factory Husqvarna ace extends championship lead in South Australia.
A double victory at the Kingston’s eighth and ninth rounds of the 2018 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) for Daniel Sanders in the E2 category has promoted the goal of clean-sweeping the series.
Sunday’s win marked Sanders’ ninth triumph from nine rounds, and with just two rounds to go at Omeo in Victoria next month, the idea of complete domination is a favourable reality for the Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team rider.
“We rolled up and I had to put my sand shoes back on in South Australia,” Sanders commented. “It was a good circuit and something that we haven’t really had. Saturday went pretty smoothly, but on Sunday I had to overcome a few crashes. I want to keep a clean-sweep for the year – that’s the goal. I just have to stay injury free for the final two rounds in Victoria.”
The Victorian came agonisingly close to capturing two outright victories, although fell just shy of the top spot to rival and E3 championship leader Daniel Milner (KTM Enduro Racing Team) on both occasions.
Sanders controls the E2 class with a 39-point advantage as the Australian Off-Road Championship heads to Omeo on 6-7 October for the season-finale.
