Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia will support a selection of emerging racers in the 2018 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship when the prestigious event arrives at Horsham in Victoria on 25-26 August.

The event, which features 125cc and 85cc world championship categories in addition to a 65cc world cup and a national teams title, is recognised as one of the largest in motocross as top young international talent will travel to Australia for the world championships next month.

Husqvarna Motorcycles-supported riders confirmed for the event are Braden Plath and Thomas Wood, each set to contest the 65cc class aboard their Husqvarna TC 65 machinery, plus Ty Jones has been listed as a 125cc class wildcard in the final rider entries.

Plath is a highly-capable 11-year-old from Cairns, while Townsville-based Wood is also 11 years of age. Both ride with the support of JR’s Motorcycles Husqvarna in Townsville.

Meanwhile, Jones is 15 and hails from Mackay, supported through Redline Motorsports Husqvarna.

The involvement of Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia will be extensive throughout the world championships, providing a technical support service on location during the race weekend, as well as offering a special lease program to international riders making the trip to Australia from overseas.

It’s been a really strong year for Plath and Jones here in Queensland, while Wood has been training in the US for much of the year. We’re looking forward to seeing them compete in the world championships.”
