Honda HRC rider enters Bulgaria with increased confidence.
Australian Todd Water believes he’s heading in the right direction as the 2018 MXGP World Championship begins to wind down with just four rounds remaining, including this weekend’s 17th stop at Sevlievo in Bulgaria.
Waters lodged an improved scorecard of 15-18 for 17th overall last weekend in Switzerland, marking a sign of increased confidence from the factory Honda HRC rider.
“I’m really looking forward to the MXGP of Bulgaria,” said Waters. “We worked hard last weekend and it was a step in the right direction, as I felt better on the bike: I’m building confidence along with my fitness, so I’m really motivated to improve on my results from Frauenfeld. I raced at Sevlievo back in 2014 but it was a mud race so it does not really count, but I’m happy to go back there.”
The Queensland native currently sits 23rd in the championship standings. Waters was drafted into the factory team to replace the injured Brian Bogers, however his return to grand prix racing was hindered by a collarbone injury sustained in Latvia, which has subsequently delayed his progress in the world championship.
