CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team’s Dylan Long has confirmed a knee injury initially sustained at Ranch MX’s double-header of the Pirelli MX Nationals will not require surgery.

Long, who won two motos at the Raymond Terrace stop, has evidently been affected by the injury over the final two rounds of the series, lodging fifth and seventh overall placings at Gladstone and Coolum for fifth in the premier class standings.

The right medial ligament tear has caused the Victorian to adopt a limp in recent weeks, which has subsequently caused swelling to the peroneal tendon in his right foot. Long is adamant both injuries won’t hinder his preparation for the Australian Supercross Championship, which is scheduled to commence in a month’s time.

“I actually hurt my knee at Raymond Terrace where I went quite good,” Long told MotoOnline.com.au. “Since then I’ve just kept tweaking it, but it’s nothing that needs surgery – it’s just a tear in my medial ligament on the inside of my right knee, which needs roughly six weeks to actually heal, but now that we’re not riding rough motocross tracks, I think I’ll be able to ride supercross without hitting it a lot.

“I can’t really do too much right now, but other than that, I should be fine – we have a fair few weeks until supercross starts. Because I’ve been limping for the past couple of weeks, something went wrong in the bottom of my foot – there something going on with my tendon – I woke up one morning last week and I couldn’t even stand on it properly.”

The number seven completed the 2018 MX Nationals with two podiums to his name, both at Ranch MX’s seventh and eighth rounds in New South Wales.
